Martlets Defeat Williston

Fresh off of long weekend, the girls trekked north and played their best match of the season against Williston’s varsity squad. While the Wildcats were strong at the top of the ladder, the Martlets proved to be much deeper, and ultimately grittier. At #4, Alex Musser ‘26 scored the first victory on the day using her power to overcome her opponent 3-1. At #7, Grace Kim ‘25 proved to be the most efficient victor on the day, refusing to drop more than a few points in each game. Maddie Clark ‘25 fought hard at #1 against a skilled Wildcat. She was able to grab one game but ultimately fell to her challenger. Lilly McMillen ‘27 secured the third win for the Martlets battling to win the fifth and final game, playing smart and determined squash. Clover Cooper ‘26 at #3 started off down two games but fought back to even the match 2-2. While her momentum was not enough to carry her to victory, Clover’s “no quit” attitude was commendable. The match came down to Lucy Morton ‘26 at #5 who has improved significantly over the course of the season. She quickly found a rhythm against her opponent and hustled for every ball. She never let her opponent into the match and closed the door for the Martlets winning 3-0. Luna Yang ‘26 won TWO exhibition matches and Caroline Callen ‘26 also added a “W” in the exhibition column. The team earned some well deserved Starbucks on the way home and look forward to hosting Suffield on Friday.
