Martlets Defeat Loomis

It wasn’t pretty, but the Martlets pulled out a win against Loomis today. We had some good looks early in the game, but struggled to convert on layups and put backs. As our offense worked to find a rhythm, we were anchored by solid efforts on the defensive end of the floor. Coming off the bench, Hunter Grace ’27, Finn Hocking ’26, and Julien Kocatas ’26 injected energy and some much needed scoring into the game. Our posts also deserve a lot of credit for not giving up even when their shots were not falling. Jake Andreski ’25, Derrick Logan ’27, Jeff Shao ’26, Bennett Varao ’27 and Khang Ngo ’27 (who had his best game of the season) helped secure key rebounds throughout the game. After a 2 point difference at halftime, Loomis went on a run to grab the lead in the opening minutes, but with some shifts to our defensive scheme — and a big three point shot from Liam Hibbard ’27 – we were able to slow the Pelicans momentum and regain the lead. It came down to the final second, but the Martlets prevailed. We recognize today’s outcome was a result of our effort overcoming our lapses in execution. We look forward to getting some work in before our Saturday matchup against Taft!
