Martlets Defeat Williston

The Martlets were back in action Monday night as they traveled north on Route 10 to face Williston. Coming off a hard week of one-goal losses the Martlets were excited for another opportunity to find the elusive win. The Martlets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when JJ Hurley '25 found Blake Burke '25 in the slot. Burke fired a nice shot that beat the Williston netminder to the far side. Williston came firing back and tied the game minutes later. After the first 18 minutes, the game was tied at 1. Williston opened the scoring in the second to take the 2-1 lead that proved to be short-lived. Blake Burke '25 netted his second of the game to tie the game at 2 and Derek Rhodes '25 scored a beauty minutes later to give the Martlets the 3-2 lead after two periods of play. The pace of the game quickened in the third and despite being short-handed at key moments the Martlets weathered the storm. Michael Bianco '24 scored at the midpoint of the period to give the Martlets the 4-2 lead. Williston kept pushing and with their goalie pulled for the final two minutes of play had the Black and Gold hemmed in. Jack Fichthorn '26 made some huge saves late in the game and stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced to help secure the win for the Black and Gold.
