Martlets Fall to Loomis

The JV Girls Hockey team lost another closely contested game to the Pelicans of Loomis. In a game played at ISCC, the Loomis squad came out firing and scored 3 times in the first period. Abigail Graham ('27) added to her team-high scoring total (now 14) with a great effort in front of the Loomis net. Unfortunately, the Pelicans answered with two of their own in the second period. Then, to the delight of the crowd, the Marlets demonstrated genuine grit as they netted three goals in 45 seconds at the beginning of the third period bringing them within one. The tag-team scoring was off the sticks of Liza Merrill ('25), Macey Sheehan ('27), and, again, Abigail Graham. The game stood at 5 - 4 right up to the last minute when Tilly Lynch ('25), now at over 100 saves on the season, was pulled for the extra skater just as the whistle blew for a Loomis penalty. With a 6 on 4 situation and the faceoff just to the left of the Loomis goalie, the Martlets peppered three quick shots but came up short at the buzzer. Just an outstanding finish despite the loss!
