Martlets Defeat Pomfret

The Martlets got back in the win column after a hard fought game against Pomfret. It was a physical and, at times, sloppy game, but we persevered with effort and determination. We were led by Connor Gray ‘26 who turned up our defensive intensity and made several timely steals. Arshaan Shah ‘26 and Aidan O’Callaghan ‘26 helped facilitate our offensive attack and our posts continued to battle hard in the paint. Pomfret was dominant on the glass and found some great looks from the perimeter, but the Martlets managed to answer each time our opponent started to gain momentum, With a one score game in the closing minutes of the contest, our final five on the floor held their composure, spurred on by a spirited bench. We finally exhaled when Bennett Varao ‘27 hit two clutch free throws in the closing seconds of the game to give us a 5 point lead. After our third long bus ride in a week, we are excited for a three game home stand starting with Avon Old Farms next Wednesday.
