Martlets Defeat Williston

Defeating Williston Northampton 7 - 1 for the first of four home games this season, the JV Girls Hockey team worked hard to control the tempo at both ends throughout the game. The first line combined for two of the seven with Lucy Wainwright ('25) firing one home in the first period and captain Cassie Goundrey ('24) adding the second tally from that group in the middle period. Goundrey and Wainwright were supported by the tenacious work of linemate Liza Merrill ('25) in the offensive corners. Chase Carter ('26) capitalized in the second period after several seconds of bounding rebounds provided her with the opportunity. Third-form players accounted for the balance of the scoring. Abigail Graham ('27) scored in the first and third periods and supported the newer skaters Eliza Reilly ('27) and Peyton Eckert ('27) on their extended shifts in the second and third periods. Eckert delighted the squad by firing one into the back of the net midgame. Abbey Cirelli ('27) added to her season totals with a goal early in the contest.
