Martlets Fall to Canterbury

After our second long bus ride of the week, the Martlets got off to a flat start against Canterbury. We allowed our opponents to take uncontested shots against our zone and were slow to get back in transition, leading to a halftime deficit of 26 points. Coming out of halftime, we were able to elevate our defensive intensity and converted on some forced turnovers. Julien Kocatas ’26 provided a much needed spark on both ends of the floor and Jeff Shao ’26 made some nice drives to the hoop. Our post players, including Cole Hadden ’26, Derrick Logan ’27, Hudson Black ’27, and Bennett Varao ’27 battled through contact to try and secure rebounds and clean up the boards. Throughout the second half, we found some good shot opportunities, including several shots right at the rim, but they just would not fall. It was a frustrating outcome, but the team deserves credit for their effort and perseverance throughout the second half. We are looking forward to a week of practice and getting some of our players back from injury as we prepare for our next contest against Pomfret next week.
