Martlets Defeat AOF

The Martlets journeyed to Avon for a match against their crosstown rivals and came away with a satisfying victory. Seven Westminster players chalked up straight set wins, including newcomers Caden Powers ‘26, Zach Li ‘27, Tyson Mertz ‘27, Brooks, Berthiaume ‘27, and Ethan McQueeney ‘27. A special shoutout to Berthiaume for yielding a mere ten points during his three games. Returning players Will Henry ‘26 and Chip Genung ‘25, who both continue to play improved squash, also walked off the court with 3-0 wins. Gideon Williams ‘27 played not one but two five set matches, losing the first after being up two games to one, but then turning the tables to come back in his second match from a 2-1 deficit.  Mathias Seber ‘26 and Johnathan Li ‘24 lost close hard fought matches. Seber succumbed in four games, with every match decided by a mere two points,  including a first game 15-17 marathon.  Meanwhile Li, after winning the first game, lost the next two both by a score of 10-12, came back to win the fourth but then ran out of steam in the final frame. Harvey deMovick  ‘24 had a nice comeback victory, making some key adjustments after the first game to sweep the next three. The match of the day belonged to Crosby Cutler 27, who found himself down two games to none but maintained his poise and composure to calmly and cooly stave off defeat by notching victories in each of the three remaining games. The squad  looks forward to more exciting matches after the holiday break.
