Martlets Win Home Opener

Led by the lockdown defense of Delia Lockwood ‘26 and the opportunistic offense of Lauren Neuman ‘25, the Martlets held off Miss Hall’s and one of the best players in New England. After an even 1st quarter, Westminster relied on Lockwood, Neuman, and Parker Perillo ‘26 to shut down the player from Miss Hall’s. Eva Rodgers ‘25 found her shooting touch and she led the Martlets on a 14-3 run. Rodgers continued to shoot well throughout the rest of the game. Lilly Murphy ‘25 was a force on the backboards with key rebounds and defense. Westminster saw key contributions from Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 and Sophie McKenna ‘27. Both hit key free throws to help Westminster pull away. The Martlets also saw young point guard Gianna Monaco ‘27 make her Westminster debut. Monaco played tough defense and she made her presence felt. The Martlets have a few days off before they begin their Holiday tournament at Ethel Walker School on Friday Dec 15 at 5 pm. Several of the players will take part in the Horizons Holiday Party on Monday Dec 11.
