Martlets Defeat IMS

After a great practice yesterday, the Martlets were ready for battle against a talented squad from IMS. From the opening tip, we were locked in on both ends of the floor, looking to push the pace in transition and play stymie defense. Led by some impressive guard play and strong outside shooting, IMS was able to hang with the Martlets – and it became clear that this was going to be a game that came down to the wire. After making some offensive adjustments, Westminster was able to take advantage of scoring lanes and securing valuable offensive rebounds. Cole Hadden ‘26 and Hudson Black ‘27 did a great job creating space in the middle of the floor and Enoch Olaosebikan ‘27, Bennett Varao ‘27, and Derrick Logan ‘27 battled hard to earn second chance opportunities for the Martlets. Although we went into the half trailing by 6 points, we felt confident that we could make up the difference. We switched our defense and Garrett Rohrbaugh ‘27, Jake Andreski ‘25, and Julien Kocatas ‘26 took on the challenge of shutting down IMS’s main offensive threats. Their suffocating defense paired with a high energy crowd and some great offensive execution helped swing the momentum back in our favor. As anticipated, the game came down to the final buzzer, but our boys finished strong, handling the pressure and locking down our defense. It is clear our team is finding our groove and we look forward to another game tomorrow as we hit the road to take on NMH!
