Martlets Win in Wallingford

The Martlets were back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they faced off against the Wild Board from Choate. This was the third road game in a row for the Black and Gold in the last 5 days. Puck drop was at 5 pm and despite a subdued atmosphere pre-game the Martlets came out ready to play and carried the play for most of the first period. Quinn Pine '25 opened the scoring for the Martlets at the 10-minute mark and despite several great chances in the subsequent shifts, the Martlets could not find the back of the net. Choate played well defensively and capitalized on a turnover to tie the game at 1. With just under 5 minutes to play in the first frame, Jake Pleau '26 was on the receiving end of a nice pass from Matty Hanrahan '26 to give the Martlets the 2-1 lead before the period ended. The second period provided both teams with some power play time. A combined 5 goals were scored in the second frame with George McCaffrey '24, Jake Pleau, and Eric Elbery '23 each scoring one apiece for the Martlets. The Martlets carried the 5-3 lead into the third and played a solid final frame. Michael Bianco '23 scored the sixth Martlet goal and Cullen Horn '25 added the empty netter to seal the deal. Jack Fichthorn '26 got the start in net and played great stopping 31 of 35 shots. The Martlets will host Brunswick on Saturday afternoon.
