Martlets Sweep

After the WALKS playday a week ago, Coach Doucette knew that this match would be a tight one. The team brought their A game today, reducing tins and fighting for every point for 105 minutes before all was said and done.  Loomis eked out two five-game wins at #2 and #3 to close the gap to 4-3, but the Martlets only lost one game down the rest of the ladder. James Teng ‘26 and Mason Abbate ‘24 played their best squash ever using all four corners of the court on every rally. Cisco Lilien ‘24, Jason Hu ‘24, Ben Swift ‘25, and Henry Naylor ‘25 all won in three games. Naylor won 11 points in a row in his first game. It was a great home start for the team.

After an exciting win vs Loomis Chaffee earlier in the afternoon, the Martlets got back on court to face Berkshire. David Suit ‘24 filled in for James Teng ‘26. After losing the first game, Suit settled down by hitting the back corners over and over. Kai Appleton ‘24 and Henry Naylor ‘25 both lost games, but the rest of the team won in three games, including Mason Abbate, who stepped up to number #2 for the match. Andrew Pang ‘24 showed his skill by allowing only 7 points in three games at #1. Cisco Lilien ‘24, Jason Hu ‘24, and Ben Swift ‘25 all showed intention and intensity in their matches.
