Martlets Fall in Opener

The Martlets fought hard up and down the ladder against a very good team of players from Capitol Squash. After starting at 6pm due to the Boys and Girls Varsity matches earlier in the day, the boys were ready to go and excited to play. Mark Yang ‘26, Nick Dowling ‘24, Robert Yalda ‘24, and Phil Zhang ‘24 all fought valiantly against tough opponents at the top of the ladder and dropped 3 game matches. Daniel Edwards ‘24 and Charlie Raymond ‘24 played well at numbers 6 and 7 respectively, and came out on top of 2 competitive 3 game matches to give the martlets our 2 wins on the day. Finally, in his first time playing squash for the martlets, Ryan Sohn ‘27 played the match of the day at #5. After dropping the first game, he rebounded and took the next two with some solid play. The final two games were very close, with the Martlet falling 9-11 and 11-13 in the final two games. It was a very good day of squash, with the Martlets acknowledging they lost to the stronger team. We will be back on court one more time in 2023, on Saturday when we travel to Eaglebrook.
