Martlets Defeat DA

The JV Girls defeated a competitive Deerfield squad by a score of 7 - 3. All 23 skaters put in quality time on the ice with zest and a desire to control both ends of the game. The first line, anchored by the tenacious efforts of center Cassie Goundrey('24), netted 3 goals - two picked up by winger Liza Merril ('25) and one by partner Lucy Wainwright ('25). Anna Klapman ('26) and Paige Herlihy ('25) supported linemate Abigail Graham ('27) as she skated her way to a hat trick and a 50% share of the game puck honors. All 5 of the defense worked hard at both ends protecting Tilly Lynch ('25) who was stellar in goal kicking out 13 shots and earning the other 50% of the game puck honors. Abby Cirelli ('27) frequently took it coast to coast and scored a goal early in the contest. Claire Dowling ('27) was a force with numerous steals and some very gritty play. The entire team played a role as the Martlets came up big in the '23-'24 season debut.
