Martlets Defeat Eaglebrook

The Thirds Boys Basketball team opened their season with an exciting win against Eaglebrook. Our twenty Martlets came out of the gates with lots of energy both on and off the floor. Led by strong guard play by Arshaan Shah ’26 and Aidan O’Callaghan ’26, we got out to a quick lead, but Eaglebrook fought back with a run of their own. After trailing by 9 at halftime, the Martlets turned up their defensive intensity and began attacking the rim with greater confidence. Jeff Shao ’26 asserted himself with several nice drives and “and-1” opportunities. Hudson Black ’27 and Bennett Varao ’27 also did a great job cleaning up the boards and scoring on putbacks. Our large bench allowed us to keep fresh legs in the second half as we looked to push the pace in transition, which helped us turn the tide. Finn Hocking ’26 and Julien Kocatas ’26 also hit some clutch shots in the final stretch to help us keep our lead. From the energy on the bench to the effort on the court, it took contributions from everyone to secure the win against a talented opponent. We look forward to building on our momentum as we prepare for 3 games next week!
