Martlets Shutout by Kent

The Martlets journeyed in the hills of Connecticut to play Kent. The match was certainly a challenging one for us from the very beginning. In the first half, we found ourselves at a disadvantage as we were down one player, Michael Song '24, for the first 26 minutes of the game. To compound our difficulties, we also faced the challenge of not having any extra players available for substitution. Despite this rough start, the team showed remarkable resilience and determination. Mason Abbate '24, in particular, deserves recognition for his unwavering effort to create space and opportunities for the Martlets. Despite our best efforts, Kent managed to score two goals in the first half.

The second half of the game was no less demanding, with Kent adding another four goals to their tally. Although the final score did not work in our favor, there were standout performances from some of our players that deserve acknowledgment. I would like to highlight the exceptional efforts of Teddy Russell '26, Kimi Weng '24, and Mark Yang '26. These players displayed great commitment and dedication throughout the match, and their contributions did not go unnoticed.
In addition, I must commend Daniel Edwards, who once again showcased his exceptional defensive skills. He played a pivotal role in holding our defensive line strong, even under the relentless pressure from the opposing team.

While the result of the game may not have been what we had hoped for, it's important to recognize the heart and determination our team displayed on the field. We will continue to work hard and improve as a team as we look forward to our final match on Saturday.
