Martlets Place 7th at Founder's

The Girls’ Cross-Country team had a phenomenal Founders’ Championship meet this past Saturday. The Girls’ team battled it out on the hardest course they ran all season with tons of uphill moments at the end. Each girl raced with tremendous grit and determination and were immensely supportive of one another throughout the competition.

On the Varsity side, Sophia Lazor ‘27 placed 9th overall in an astounding time of 21:10. This time marked a 30 second drop for Lazor, a remarkable accomplishment considering the difficulty of the course. Lazor’s ninth place finish is notably an incredible accomplishment for a 3rd former. Madison Khuu ‘24 placed 34th in a time of 24:10 and Fiona Lawson ‘26 followed close behind her in a time of 24:46, placing in the top 40 as well. Sophie Grace Stevenson ‘25 gave an incredible performance, returning for her first race after being injured for some of the season. Stevenson was incredibly tough getting back out on the course and ran a great time of 26:16. Anna Klapman ‘26 followed behind Stevenson with a time of 26:32. Other finishers for the Martlets included Avery Gray ‘26 who ran a best time of 27:01, an impressive accomplishment on the uphill course. Elise Park ‘25 also ran strong for the Martlets, finishing in a time of 28:18.

On the Junior Varsity side, Sunshine Li ran a time of 27:08 placing 29th. Ava O’Connell ‘26, ran a 28:42, Carolyn Cheng ‘24 ran a 28:54, and Grace Tyler ‘24 ran a 29:57.

Overall, the Girl’s team should be incredibly proud of how hard they have worked all season! It led them to a fantastic day of racing on this day! We are looking forward to the New England’s Championship!

As a special note, thank you to all our seniors for the incredible hard work they have put into the team this season. It was our senior day during this meet and we had some fantastic and well-deserved recognition of the seniors. We are so grateful for all their efforts, energy and inspiration they have given us this year. Thank you Madison Khuu, Grace Tyler, and Carolyn Cheng!
