Martlets Fall to Hotchkiss

On one of the colder Fall days the Martlets have played this season, they hosted Hotchkiss. The visitors would open the scoring midway through the first half off a corner kick. Size and strength played a key in the game as it has during the season. The hard-working Martlets again started with 6 sophomores and 2 freshmen who realized that size and physicality would be key today. It was clear on Hotchkiss's second goal in the first half as one of their older, more prominent players would quickly turn and go to goal and kiss one off the post and into the net. Staying positive at half, Westminster kept it together and came out strong in the second half and had chances. Pushing off a free kick, Westminster would be short a man off the goalie’s punt and it was 3v3 heading back the other way. The Hotchkiss player picked his head up and chipped a long goal, catching the Westminster goalie off his line. Things got a little interesting late with Hotchkiss packing it in and Westminster maintaining good possession and having opportunities late. Off a well-hit free kick by Abraham Monsee ‘25, a crashing Jackson Raymond ‘24 would get his first goal in a Westminster uniform. Jackson has been a hardworking standout back for the last four years for the varsity squad. Dennis Quiwon ‘26 would record a 7 save game.
