Martlets Defeat Gunn

Westminster School hosted The Frederick Gunn School Highlanders on a gorgeous fall day on Williams Hill. While we were missing several players, the “quad squad” (4ths boys’ soccer) did not have a game so six players from their team joined us for the game. We were fortunate to have them join us as they contributed to our success. The Martlets opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a fine goal by Jayden Lee ‘25. Lee was able to finish from a nice through ball from Lane Gallagher ‘25. FGS leveled the score in the 24’. Late in the first half, third former Tim Donohue ‘27 scored off another through ball, this time from Khang Ngo ‘27. After the halftime break the Martlets picked up where they left off with Ngo tallying after a pass from Evan Francis ‘26. With 10 minutes remaining in the game the FGS goalie saved Gallagher’s penalty kick, but Gallagher got revenge 6 minutes later as he finished an unassisted strike with authority! Westminster goalies George Baird ‘26 and Hunter Grace ‘27 both made several nice plays to limit the Highlanders. Francis has been extremely consistent and impactful over our last several games. The Martlets host Hotchkiss on Wednesday before ending the season with two road games.
