HEROIC WIN!!!

Frantz Batoh
The much-dreaded game against Loomis ended in victory for Westminster. The players went in with their heads held high, determined to give their best despite the game's outcome. The possession of the ball was relatively even between both teams. They made careful passes, trying to keep the opposing team from getting the ball. Occasionally, the ball passed Loomis’ defense line, but the defenders were fast and made tough opponents for our strikers. However, the same was true for the other team. Defense Payton Harding ’24 ran as fast as she could every time the ball was near her; her speed and careful technique helped her complete effective passes and kick the ball away from the goal. However, when the ball reached the goal, Mei Yin Ren ’25 was fast to catch it countless times, giving the Martlets many opportunities to get ahead again. In the first half, with impeccable aim, Margaux Walter ’27 scored the first goal of the game from a penalty kick. A few minutes later, Walter assisted striker Schuyler Groves ’26 as she scored the second goal of the game.
During the second half, the game did not slow down. Although the Martlets were tired, they were still determined to give Loomis a fight. During this half, the Loomis strikers got past the defense line and scored their first goal. The Martlets kept pressing, making fast passes, and getting to the ball quickly. Showing the cohesion of the team, the Martlets scored once again. Groves passed to striker Colby Smith, ’24, who was ahead and kicked the ball into the goal. The game shifted as Loomis tried to score again, but the defense and midfield worked hard to keep the ball from reaching Ren, ensuring the victory. What a game!!!
