Martlets Tie Choate

The Westminster 3rds’ Girls Soccer team traveled to Choate to face the team for the first time this season. A match a few weeks earlier at Westminster was canceled. This was the first game back from a long weekend and the team started slow against Choate, resulting in a 0-0 tie at the half. Choate was playing down a person after an injury, so the martlets came out in the second half with a one person advantage since Choate didn’t have any substitutions. Choate was able to make exactly one drive on net in the second half, and the Westminster girls did their best by keeping the ball almost entirely in front of the Choate goal. Even with multiple shots and dominating possession, the team was unable to make one shot sink. The offensive line was able to work well together, especially Skye Hord ‘27, Eliza Reilly ‘27 and Kaitlyn Buda ‘27.  Emily Fonner ‘26, Delia Lockwood ‘26 and Janet Kiburi ‘26 also were able to spend multiple minutes in front of the Choate goal. The time of possession was a positive for the team, though they felt like this one got away. They hope for better results against Miss Porter’s in a week.
