Martlets Shutout Williston

Good weather and high spirits due to parents’ weekend encouraged the Martlets to give it their all. As soon as the whistle blew Westminster took possession of the ball and did not let go until the last minute. Despite this, the first half was looking tough and Willston gave Westminster a fight, despite many shots on goal, the ball did not go past the goalie. Then, finally, off of an assist from Eliza Cabot ’24, striker Schuyler Groves ’26 scored the first goal of the game. Despite being on the lead, the MArtlets kept pressing to get their second goal. A few minutes before the first half was over, midfielder Margaux Walter ’27 scored again from a free kick. The second half started with more confidence from Westminster’s side. Five more goals followed during this half, once the Martlets started playing with more organization and making smart passes. Our scorers were Lexie Willie ’26, Walter and Groves again, Ilana Mezheritskiy ’27, and Mya Polastry ’27. Teamwork was evident in this game, which resulted in the Martlets’ victory!
