Martlets Tie Hotchkiss

In an intense match, the Westminster Martlets JV Field Hockey Team faced off against the Hotchkiss Bearcats, resulting in a hard-fought 2-2 tie. The game was a showcase of incredible skill, teamwork, but the resilience of Hotchkiss was too much to overcome. Lizzie Muir, (27), was the goal scorer for both goals.  However it was the Martlets' midfielders, consisting of Peyton Eckert(27), Marlee Spiro(27), Caroline Callen (26), and Stella Spitz(27), who were instrumental in maintaining the equilibrium of the game. Their strong defensive and offensive efforts kept the score level, preventing the Bearcats from gaining a decisive lead. Their remarkable teamwork and ball-handling skills were key to the team's overall performance.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of this game was the Martlets' dominant presence in terms of shots. They outshot the Bearcats 12 to 3, however lacked the ability to follow up and maintain control after deflected shots. The tie against a strong opponent like the Hotchkiss Bearcats highlighted the Martlets' potential and set the stage for more exciting field hockey action in the future. The JV Martlets take on Deerfield Academy away next week 10/18/23.
