Martlets Fall to Williston

On an unseasonable hot day for October, Westminster would welcome Williston to play on their grass field for the first time all season. The game got off to a bumpy start for the home side as a few starters were out of the starting lineup. Getting his first start in net for Westminster would be Alex Wood ‘25. He would stand tall all day and would be awarded the team wrench. Williston jumped on the board about 15 minutes in and would hold a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. The Westminster midfield of Finn Hocking '26, Luka Misko '27, Galima Sonnah '26, Henry Warner '25, and Arshaan Shah '26 competed hard again and were able to have stretches of decent possession. Getting some more time up top were Abraham Monsee '25 and Owen O'Farrell '24 who were able to generate some more chances than the Martlets have had in recent weeks. The backline led by Jackson Raymond '24 played extremely hard against the speedy wings on Williston. Chipping in time in the back were Leo DiStefano '24, Garrett Rohrbaugh '27, Connor Gray '26, and Finn Williams '26. Williston broke the game open with two back-to-back quick goals early in the second half to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Westminster pushed late with the younger players of Matthew Gregorski '27, Nick Lopriore '26, and Danial Olaosebikan '26. The black and gold conceded a PK goal for a 4-0 deficit. The Martlets look forward to a day off on Thursday and get back to it on Friday for a weekend matchup against Kingswood.
