Martlets Fall to Daisys

Westminster traveled down the road to Miss Porter’s School this past Wednesday afternoon to battle against the Daisys. Despite the intense early October heat wave, both teams arrived ready to play. Much of the game was a back-and-forth between the Martlets and the Daisys, with each team having a few scoring opportunities here and there. Matched in their formations, the Martlets looked to find open spaces and capitalize on their chances but were unlucky in their pursuits. The sole goal of the game came later on in the first half, when Miss Porter’s was able to score the sole goal of the game off of a Martlet miscue, allowing them to take the lead. Westminster entered the second half recognizing that there was still plenty of time left on the clock to fight their way back into the game. After regrouping, Westminster had some wonderful moments of play as they looked to play quickly and with one- and two-touches. In the second half, the Martlets had a few close-scoring opportunities but were unable to finish. Westminster fought hard up until the final moments of the game and even hit the crossbar with seconds remaining in the match. Despite the defeat, it was a great game between two solid teams. The Martlets look to rebound this upcoming Saturday in their game against Loomis. The game will be played at home at 2:30 PM.
