Westminster Defeats Miss Porter's

Sara Salazar and Frantz Batoh
The game started with an even possession of the ball from both teams. Westminster's strikers took several shots at the goal the first few minutes of the game, but the unknown field was not in their favor. The defense worked hard to keep the ball away from the goal, Payton Harding '24 took on many of the opponent's strikers and successfully defended the Martlet's field. With 12 minutes left on the clock for the first half to be over, Schuyler Groves '26 scored the first goal of the game. Soon after, she saw another opportunity to score, dribbling the ball across the field, and putting the Martlets ahead by two goals. The heat made the game a tough one, but the players showed their commitment- they did not rest, and took every opportunity they had to get the ball. Captain Westie Strawbridge '24 shared her combative mindset from the midfield, and encouraged her teammates to keep making their best effort during the halftime, keeping the spirits high. Defense Abbey Cirelli '27 completed many successful passes to her teammates who were playing offense, and even made some shots at the goal. Mei Yin Ren '25 saved some risky shots, ensuring Westminster's victory, with no goals from Miss Porter's. Go Martlets!
