Martlets Defeat Pomfret

The JV Boys enjoyed their first win of the season against Pomfret this afternoon. Jin Lee ‘24 opened the scoring early into the match, with a cool finish after a good run. The goal was built on excellent work from a midfield of Kimi Weng ‘24, Dylan Ness ‘26, and Mark Yang ‘26. Their hard work off the ball stifled the Pomfret midfield and enabled the Westminster boys to excel in possession. Kimi is proving to be a resilient leader on the field, regularly drawing heavy challenges only to return to his feet and continue playing. Mark has started the season well and is always positive in his actions. His driving runs and willingness to play others into the moment make him an exciting member of the team. Alex Do ‘24 scored the second with a poacher’s finish from close range. Alex enhances the players around him and is always willing to make the decisive run. There were several excellent performances across the field, but Junian Kim ‘26 stood out with several defensive moments highlighting his tenacity and awareness of the game. In one play, Junian was caught out of position and high up the field, but he recognized the danger and his responsibility to track back, Junian made a lung busting run to recover and nullify the threat to the Westminster goal. This victory was a true team effort and a deserved reward for their efforts in practice.
