Martlets Fall to Pomfret

After a solid 24 hours of rain, the clouds would pass and Westminster would be able to host Pomfret on Hovey Field. Both teams came into the game looking for points and everyone knew it would be a good match. At the start of the game, both teams would counterattack strongly and push the play on each other's back line. Handling the midfield duties for the Martlets would be Luka Misko ‘27, Henry Warner ‘25, Abraham Monsee ‘25, Galima Sonnah ‘26, and Finn Hocking ‘26 who probably had the best game of his career to date in the Black and Gold. Westminster played some nice soccer through the midfield. Pomfret would get on the board on the later side of the first half off a free kick into the box in which a Griffin would get inside position on a Martlet to knock home the winning goal. At halftime, Westminster would keep it positive as they were playing some good soccer. To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger in the famous bodybuilding “Pumping Iron”, the team needed to “dig down deep and ask yourselves who do you want to be.” The second half was more of the same, the Martlets answered the bell and pushed and pushed but would come up empty. Luka MIsko would have a chance late but would be denied by the post. The back line of Finn Williams ‘26, Leo DiStefano ‘24, Jackson Raymond ‘24, and Connor Gray ‘26 would be busy at times and played extremely well. The game wrench would go to Raymoud who has been out of the lineup for a few games and stepped right in where he left off at the start of the season.
