Martlets Draw with Suffield

As the match began on a cool and cloudy afternoon at Suffield, the Martlets from Westminster lined up for the opening whistle. Twenty seconds later, Eliza Reilly ‘27 took the ball down the left sideline and crossed it over to Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 for a quick goal which fired up the team. By the end of the half the score was 1-1 and remained that way for the rest of the contest. Many opportunities presented themselves as the day continued, especially as Suffield’s players began to tire out late in the second half. Unfortunately, the team could not get one in the net, and settled for the 1-1 tie. This was the first non-loss for the team since October 9, 2021! Special shoutouts to Melody El-Amin Stewart ‘27 who locked down the middle of the field in the second half, and to Aerin Kim ‘27, Juliette Smatt ‘25, Grace Doherty ‘24, and Lily Raskind ‘25, who all played stellar defense throughout the game, but especially in the final 30 minutes.
