Martlets Fall to K-O

Due to various injuries and other extraordinary circumstances, Westminster traveled to K-O down many players. It wasn’t clear whether having those players active would have made the difference, as K-O started out quickly, scoring 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of the half and led 6-0 by the break. To the girls credit, the team tried to keep up the morale in the second half even though K-O refused to play defense while running up the score. There were few opportunities to get the offense going as the speed of the Varsity middle school team picked off pass after pass. This was the first time since 2019 that the Westminster Martlets of 3rds Girls Soccer, kept K-O under 10 goals in a game, so the team will rest easy tonight. A running joke down the sideline late in the game, which may actually be true, was that the opposition had more offsides calls than goals in the game; a very rare occurrence!
