Martlets Defeat Salisbury

Finally, the 3BS team played their first game of the season; we know they were tired of just practicing and occasionally scrimmaging the “Quad Squad” (4BS). The team energy was readily apparent from the moment they departed the bus at Salisbury School. The Martlets battled the Crimson Knights from the start of the game as the teams were evenly matched. Salisbury scored first, but Lane Gallagher ‘25 leveled the score in the 29th minute. Lane then put the Martlets ahead just before halftime (33rd minute). The Crimson Knights scored first in the second half to knot the match 2-2. We were fortunate to have six fourth formers join us for the game. Jordan Pham ‘27 scored in the 60th minute to put the good guys back up by a goal. As the game approached full time (70 minutes) Salisbury pressed hard and gained several corner kicks. The defense, led by goalie George Baird ‘26, and defenders Kai Appleton ‘24 and Elijah Bates ‘24, held strong and blocked several shots before the referee blew his whistle to end the match. The boys will host Pomfret School in the first home match of the season on Saturday.
