Martlets Fall to Suffield

The JV Boys withstood some early pressure from Suffield Academy before playing their way into the game. Momentum swung back and forth with neither side in the ascendancy, and the Martlets were undone by a fast break late in the first half. Dylan Ness ‘26 once again showed his quality on and off the ball, presenting a threat whenever called upon. The Suffield defense was well organized but Dylan regularly forced his way through the lines to offer a dangerous ball. Teddy Russell ‘26 proved himself a valuable squad member with another solid performance. Teddy is positive in his decisions, and gives his best effort in every moment, transitioning between offensive and defensive work without complaint. He brings this same attitude to the practice field every day and is a pleasure to work with. The second half was a disjointed affair, with the Martlets struggling to exercise early control of the tempo. Suffield scored a second goal, but this only stirred the Westminster boys into action. Mason Abbate ‘24 reacted well to the half time talk and delivered a battling performance up front. The boys were unlucky not to test the Suffield keeper more often but this was a much better team display and they are looking to build upon it.
