Martlets Fall to NMH

Our team has progressed so far from just three days ago when we had our first game. We were playing a JV team, which has more experience than us. Our teammates are learning to communicate with each other and how to stop offenses more effectively. From not knowing where to go on the field to cheering each other on and backing up our passes, the team left the field knowing that we were getting better. On the defense, Amori Morgan ’27 and Macey Sheehan ’27 were absolute stars, not afraid to get close to the ball and really tried to get it outside of the shooting circle. Teagan Lynch ’27 and Reagan Riley ’27 were very flexible in playing middle field, which they haven’t done a lot of but were surprisingly good at pushing the ball up field. Hopie Fooshee ’27 kept the strong spirit throughout the game, constantly pushing herself to keep going after the ball, even when it was rolling on the edge of the field. Frances Trafelet ’26 used every opportunity she got to get the ball into the opposing team’s defensive zone. During the first half, we are kind of chasing after the ball rather than hitting it with purpose. Since the ball moved so quickly on the turf, a lot of our mid-field players got tired quickly and had to rely on our defense to keep the ball away from goal. During the second half, we got our rhythm back and were able to successfully stop their aggressive offense and only let in one goal.
