Martlets Fall to Rumsey

This game was a learning experience for the Martlets. Third weeks into the season, we had our first game at Rumsey Hall. Early on, it became clear that we were up against younger, but more experienced players. We were lucky to have Taleah Leonard ’26 from JV temporarily as our goalie, who helped our defensive players throughout the game against a very strong offense. In the first quarter, we were able to quickly familiarize ourselves with the game’s rules as it was our first time playing on an entire field. Chase Carter ’26 kept going after the ball during corners and kept the ball away from the goal. In the second quarter, Parker Perillo ’26 worked closely with Sofiia Kondratiuk ’26 to take possession of the ball from the opposing team and pass the ball up. In the third quarter, we switched sides. Virginia Whiting ’26 was able to run the ball all the way up the field. Reagan Riley ’27 blocked several passes from going into the goal. The fourth quarter was the closest we came to scoring, starting with a good hit from Gabby de la Fe ’26, and the entire team came together to help score. Though we took the loss, the team-building experience brought these Martlets together.
