Westminster Defeats DA

Sara Salazar and Frantz Batoh
Determined to keep giving their best after last week’s tie, the Martlets started the game strong. The Deerfield team was a challenging one and the girls realized that right away. Both teams went back and forth, trying to score and gaining possession of the ball. More than halfway through the first half Margaux Walter ’27 scored the first goal of the game, putting Westminster in the lead. For the second half the player were tired, but kept giving Deerfield a fight. Peyton Harding ’24 defended the Martlets’ goal, preventing our opponent from scoring. Mei Yin Ren ’24, the goalie, did an outstanding job, saving multiple shots from Deerfield. Late into the second half, right-winger Schuyler Groves ’26 scored the second goal of the game, assisted by Eliza Cabot ’24. The Martlets’ determination and team work were key factors in their victory against a strong opponent.
