Martlets Defeat Taft
It was the perfect day for a field hockey game at home against Taft on the turf. The Varsity team had just finished a game with Taft, and we were lucky to have some fans still on site to cheer us along. It was also the last home game of the 2022 season and for our 4 seniors Bella Ursano '23, Charlotte Trafelet '23, Maggie McCarthy '23, and Reese Hutchen '23, were ready to compete in their last high school career match on their home field. The first game that our team played Taft ended with a tie and so it appeared that it may be anyone’s game. However, our JV Martlets have grown tremendously since that first game and therefore dominated in the first half ending with a 2-0 lead. As the second half wore on, Taft continued to apply pressure and earned a goal. The Martlets reciprocated with another goal, and the score was quickly set to 3-1. The battle continued and Taft scored yet another goal to 3-2 with only 4 minutes left, the Martlets held onto the lead and the win! GG Filliipetti ‘26 2 goals, Lexi Rohan '25 scored 1.
