Martlets Fall to Deerfield

The girls must have spent all of their mojo heading into Parents Weekend, as they didn’t seem to have much coming out visiting Deerfield, who avenged a loss to the Martlets earlier in the season with a decisive home win. The Doors scored in the first and last five minutes of each half, as well as once more in each. The Martlets earned plenty of chances to score themselves, generating ten shots in the first half alone. These included great bids from Colby Smith ‘24 and Ava Beckford ‘23. Riley Vincent ‘23 had several good chances, including one shot that went off of the post and another from close range that went straight into the keeper. Beckford had another close call in the second half when she rung the crossbar, but the Martlets would never be able to find the twine. Bright spots for the day were provided by Peyton Harding ‘24 and Piper Lundin ‘26 who brought grit to the outside midfield, and by Jennifer Yang ‘25, who defended tenaciously.
