Martlets Defeat DA

The Martlets played at home against Deerfield this afternoon. The Martlets entered the game with a record of  4 wins and 2 ties.  Hoping to stay undefeated the Martlets were eager to get the game started.  It was the first game that the cold air was really being felt when striking the ball.  The first half was a battle between the two teams and it was clear that it was not going to be easy.  Regardless of both teams tremendous efforts, the score remained 0-0 at the half.  Going into the second half after 9 minutes the effort paid off and the Martlets scored their first goal with the skill of GiGi Filippetti(26). The lead didn’t last long, Deerfield came back strong and scored their first goal.  The game all tied up at that point, both teams were playing in 5th gear.  TayTay Leonard(26) had 7 saves in goal in the second half.  With just 7 minutes left of the game Lexi Rohan(25) scored after a minor scrum with the opposing goalie.  The Martlets kept the pressure on for the remainder of the game, even down to the last seconds defending against 2 back to back corners, clinching the victory!
