Martlets Compete in Dual Meet

A beautiful fall day at Suffield as the Boys XC team traveled north for a “tri-meet” with Suffield and Berkshire. A fast but somewhat marshy course coupled with just-above prime race temperatures for, overall, good race day conditions. As the race began, the boys darted out ahead of Suffield runners and approached an impressive, challenging hill. At the one mile mark Jay Henry ‘23 came in with a screaming and steady 6:15 with co-captain Sam Bradley ‘23 close behind. Jakub McKinney ‘23 finished with his fastest XC course time ever, a cruising 20:42 with very consistent and even mile splits. Steven Chun ‘25 and Rhys Marschke ‘24 dueled for placement during the race, and in the end Steven broke ahead by a 10 second margin. A huge finishing performance for Mike Basich ‘26 with a 35 second PR, followed close behind by Hewitt Shelton ‘23 and not far behind was Will Henry ‘26, also taking home a PR. An outstanding race day for the Martlets as we look towards Parents and Family Weekend with a home dual meet against AOF. Go martlets!
