Westminster Falls to Deerfield

The Westminster boys took to the pool again on a lovely Saturday afternoon, for the first of two games. The home side fell to the visiting Deerfield team 13-3. The visitors came out strong in the first quarter, testing the net of Martlet keeper Wills Erda ’24, who managed to get a hand on more than one of their shots. With some refocusing after the initial quarter, the home side came out much stronger in the second half, shutting out the Deerfield offense. The home side found a spark through Andrew Pang ’24 and captain Mason Zottola ’23 who pitched in for the goals. The post was a menace for the home side in the second half but did not diminish some of the excellent build up play from the hosts. Nolan Styspeck ’25 also made some saves in his role as the shallow end keeper while also distributing well to his side on the break. Also impressing were Owen Huang ’24 and Jason Hu ’25 who battled well in the hold position and kept Deerfield from easy points. The second half provided a number of encouraging signs that the team hopes to carry into their second game of the day against Andover.
