Founders League Championship Finale

With all seven Founders League schools coming together for a final league competition at the Watertown Country Club, the Martlets fielded six "game ready" players including Susie Mahoney '20, Eve Cathcart '20, Elaina Comia '19, Ishika Nathan '19, Emma Gurnell '21 and Ellie Cramer '22 in a medal format tournament that would yield an overall team score. Ultimately, after the final putt was tallied, the black and gold earned fifth place behind Taft, Choate and Loomis as a steady Hotchkiss squad earned top honors for 2019. The Martlets, however, played smart focused golf, grinding through some tough patches on a difficult course set up but also enjoying plenty of personal highlights. Mahoney earned Westminster's low round of the day at 49 while the other players clustered around the low 50's. Most notably, co-captains Comia and Nathan, who were part of Westminster first "pioneering" team four years ago, concluded their careers much as they had begun them, up for any challenge, enthusiastic about improving and competing, and always willing to lend a hand to move the program ahead. Not surprisingly, Westminster has its sights set on becoming a top NE team, yet the girls and coaches welcome both the journey and the joy inherent with that aspiration.
