Great Team Effort Secures the Win

Westminster played a beautiful game on a beautiful day. The Martlets put the pressure on to start, winning the draw and settling on attack. Just a few minutes in Katherine Ashe '21 converted on a free position to give her team the 1-0 lead. Hotchkiss battled back to make it 1-1, but Lindsey Valenti '22 helped the team pull away with consecutive goals to give Westminster the 3-1 lead. Finally, Olivia Goldstuck '21 found the back of the net to end the half 4-1. The second half was full of team play as Shelby Oken '22 helped put pressure on to force turnovers in the midfield. Arin Goldberg '22 got the scoring going off a great dodge in the 8 meter. Goldstuck helped increase the lead just minutes later by gaining possession off the draw and driving to the net. To its credit, Hotchkiss rallied and put up two quick goals, but Westminster refocused and maintained possession. Great defensive play by Abby Moss '20 and well-executed draws by India Lalor '21 helped shift the momentum back to Westminster. Hannah Tarazi '22 scored off a quick stick play from Valenti who then followed soon after with her third goal of the day. Lalor rounded out the scoring to give her team the 9-3 victory. The team award went to Sophia Coumantaros '21 for stepping in and playing goalie. Her teammates were grateful for her grit between the pipes!
