Westminster Finds a Way to Beat Pomfret

With temperatures in the 70s and full sun for the first time this season, it was a true spring day as Westminster First Girls’ Lacrosse hit the road again, this time to take on Pomfret. The Martlets scored first, but Pomfret stayed in play trailing by only a few goals throughout the first half. After a four-goal run, however, Westminster began to kick it in to put the team up 8-3 at the half. A five goal differential is not a comfortable lead in lacrosse and Pomfret came into the second half ready to take control of the game as it began to chip away at the Westminster lead. The Martlets found a way to raise the level of their pass accuracy, defensive crashes and shot placement to solidify the 16-10 win late in the second half with notable showings from captain defender Georgia Swank ‘19, defender Jenny Guider ‘20 and attacker Ridgely Green ‘20. The Martlets look forward to Wednesday as they host Williston for the first home game of the season.
