A Solid Rebound

The Martlets rebounded from their tough loss against AOF by defeating Pomfret 7-1 to move to 3-3 on the season. Playing at No. 1, Peter Miller '22 lost in five games against a skilled and tenacious opponent. Miller won the first two games at 9 and 14 (!) but then lost the next three games at (9), (6) and (9). It was a very entertaining match with both players reaching for every ball and never saying die. It was great to have Travis Paulsen '20 back in the lineup for the first time since December. Still playing a bit tentatively because of his surgery, Paulsen still managed to hit plenty of good shots in a 6, 7, (9), 4 victory at No. 4. The Black and Gold have one more home match, on Saturday against Trinity Pawling, before hitting the road for three matches against quality opponents.

Here are the individual match results.
No. 1 Peter Miller '22 lost to Sam Franz 9, 14, (9), (6), (9)
No. 2 Mac Dye '20 defeated Gordie Croce (10), 3, 7, 6
No. 3 Gus Hartmann '20 defeated Alvara Barbera 1, 5, 9
No. 4 Travis Paulsen '20 defeated Keegan Rybacki 6, 7, (9), 4
