Winter Term Awards Ceremony

At the Winter Term Awards Ceremony March 23, Headmaster Bill Philip welcomed everyone to the start of the spring term. He spoke about contrasts in school life and the classroom experience from prior generations, saying: “The pace with which our world is changing only emphasizes how urgent our work is here today. Complacency leaves us behind and apathy debilitates us. We must be prepared for more and even faster change. We must be alert, we must be nimble, and we must be engaged. Today, more than ever, we must all seize and relish the opportunities we enjoy here in this extraordinary school community.”

He then recognized members of the grounds crew who spent much of the winter cleaning snow from campus roadways and pathways. “We are so fortunate to share this school community with these tireless, loyal and spirited fellow Martlets,” he said.

Dean of Faculty Greg Marco gave some highlights from the winter term. He asked everyone to give thanks to the cast and crew of “Anything Goes” and to all visual and performing artists, to congratulate all athletes and coaches, and to express appreciation to those who made possible a wide array of community-building activities and events during the winter term.

He closed by saying: “Overall, it has been a wonderful winter term, and I look forward to our continued success during the upcoming spring. … As a true community, let’s savor every moment of the coming term and treasure the time that we have together in this beautiful setting.”
