Reach Well Beyond the Ordinary
Westminster School is a coeducational independent boarding and day school in Simsbury, Connecticut, serving students in grades 9–12 and postgraduates in a close-knit community of approximately 425 students. Known for its rigorous academics, exceptional college preparation, competitive athletics, vibrant arts programs, and supportive residential community, Westminster has challenged students to reach well beyond the ordinary since its founding in 1888. Guided by its motto of Grit and Grace, Westminster empowers students to gain the knowledge, character, and confidence to thrive in college and lead lives of purpose, achievement, and service.
A Community That Feels Like Home
At Westminster, home is more than a place to live—it’s a community where students are known, challenged, and supported every day. Learning extends well beyond the classroom through life in the residence halls, family-style meals, afternoons on the athletic fields and in the arts, and meaningful relationships with faculty who serve as teachers, coaches, advisors, and dorm parents.
Students come to Westminster from across the United States and around the world, bringing diverse backgrounds and perspectives that strengthen the community. Together, they build friendships, discover new passions, and develop the confidence, character, and sense of purpose that will stay with them long after they leave Williams Hill.
A Campus Connected to Community
Westminster’s 200-acre campus sits atop Williams Hill in the heart of Simsbury, Connecticut—one of New England’s most charming and welcoming towns. Just a short walk from campus, students gather with friends at local cafés and restaurants, browse independent shops, attend community events, and build connections beyond Westminster. The town’s walkability, safety, and strong sense of community make Simsbury a natural extension of campus life, offering students the freedom to explore within a supportive environment.
Located just north of Hartford and within easy reach of both Boston and New York City, Westminster also provides convenient access to the educational, cultural, and professional opportunities of the Northeast while maintaining the focus and beauty of its residential setting
