Martlet Teams Earn Spots in Post-Season Play

First Football
With 6 wins and only 2 losses, Westminster’s First Football team compiled their best record in 20 years this season and were awarded a spot in their first ever bowl game. The boys will travel to North Andover, MA to take on Brooks School in the Sean Brennan Bowl on Saturday, November 15.

The team is riding high after a big win in the “Mega-Bowl” – their annual derby against longtime rival Pomfret – in which Tri-Captain David Carter ’15 ran for 3 TDs and over 260 yards, setting school records for rushing yards and touchdowns in a single season.

First Field Hockey
First Field Hockey had a tremendous regular season, capping off a 16-2 record with a 9-game winning streak and earning a berth in the NEPSAC Class A Tournament. With their impressive record, the girls were seeded #3 and hosted #6 Noble and Greenough at home on Wednesday. After defeating Nobles 3-1, they now face Hotchkiss in the semi-finals at Hotchkiss on Sat., Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.

First Girls’ Soccer
First Girls’ Soccer fought their way to a 12-3-1 record and were also riding a 9-game winning-streak into the NEPSAC Class A Tournament. That streak goes to 10 as the girls defeated Phillips Academy (Andover) in overtime on Wednesday. They will travel to Choate on Sat., Nov. 15 for a 2 p.m. semi-final game.
