First Softball
The Martlets played in two very different games this week: one that went to extra innings against Suffield and another that showed the power of the Martlet bats against Kent. In the 7-6 game with the Tigers, Jordan Gowdy ’14 blasted a two-run homer over the centerfield fence in the sixth inning to erase a 5-3 deficit. Gowdy also singled, stole a base, and scored the winning run on a wild pitch. Defensive standouts for the Martlets included Paige Capistran ’16, who made a sensational diving catch in left field. Gowdy called a strong game behind the plate, and Rachel Monroe ’14 made a number of fine plays at shortstop. Amanda Savino ’14 pitched very well against a formidable Suffield lineup, striking out 10 and allowing just two earned runs. In a lopsided win against the Lions, Brooke Wolejko ’14 launched two home runs. Rachel Monroe, Mackenzie Griffith ’17 and Brenna Monroe ’17 each had three RBIs in the win. Brenna Monroe pitched a strong game, allowing only three Kent base hits, and Kaitlyn McCausland ’16 played well behind the plate.

Susanna Baker ’15, Eliza Christman ’15, Mary French ’15, Kelcie Finn ’14, StinaLadd ’15 and Sarah Migliori ’16 all had great games; they executed both goals and assists beautifully. Katie Savage ’15 made some big saves in goal.
