First Boys’ Squash
In addition to traveling to Philadelphia for the High School Nationals, the Martlets won their other match of the week 7-0 against Williston. All of the boys won in three games. Will Swanson ’14, Charlie Russell ’14, WonjuneKang ’16, Ben Shively ’14 and Thomas Cragg ’14 were victorious for the Black and Gold. Harry Ganek ’14 conceded only four points in his three-game victory. Finally, Captain Alvin Heumann ’14 put on a clinic at No. 1, defeating his game opponent 1, 3, 2.
 
Second Girls’ Squash
The Martlets narrowly defeated the Suffield Academy Tigers 4-3. The visitors were especially gritty at the top of the ladder, winning in five games at No. 1 and in four games at No. 2. The Black and Gold also lost a tough five-gamer at No. 5, but all of the other girls won their matches in straight games. The team’s captains, Sophie Skinner ’15, Mary French ’15 and Leila Dodd ’14, pretty much ran the show from beginning to end.
 
Third Girls’ Squash
The Martlets journeyed to Choate and returned to the Hill with a 4-3 win. Katherine Ogden ’15, Isabel Tibbetts ’15, Claire Egan ’14 and Callie Brossman ’16 secured key victories for the Black and Gold. Lexie Miller ’15 won her exhibition match.
 
First Girls’ Hockey
The Martlets exacted some revenge with a 2-0 win over Loomis. Westminster got on the board in the first when Kat Pate ’14 gave Kelcie Finn ’14 a stretch pass which she took in alone and made a splendid move to put the Martlets in the lead. In the second, Katie Savage ’15 caused a turnover that Erin Ozturk ’15 picked up and fired the puck into the top corner. The Martlet defense was strong in the third led by Shannon Cherpak ’14 and Ashley Carbone ’16.
 
Second Girls’ Hockey
The Martlets had a big win over Simsbury High’s JV squad. Anne Bitterli ’16 put the Martlets up 1-0 late in the first period. Westminster dominated the second period with goals from Ellie Deveaux ’14, Katie Hovey ’14, Evie Pope ’16 and Nina Wilmerding ’15. Katie Simeon ’16 finished the evening with a pretty breakaway for the final tally. The Martlets finished the weekend with an 8-0 victory over Canterbury.
 
Second Boys’ Hockey
Second Boys’ Hockey on Choate at home in a rematch of a game played in early December and defeated the visitors 4-1. The Wild Boars scored first, but Westminster scored twice during the middle frame. Stephen McCormick ’14 and Tommy Griffith ’14 both found the cage to put the Martlets ahead 2-1. Philippe Morin ’15 and Ryan Seymour ’15 provided insurance for the home team with goals later in the game.
 
Third Boys’ Hockey
The Martlets traveled to Salisbury to earn a 4-1 win. After a slow start, Kyle Keir ’15 scored in the second period to get the Martlets going. Owen Johnson ’17 built upon the Martlet lead. Brendan Jacobs ’17 and Ken Mazzaro ’17 closed things out for Westminster with the final tallies.
 
Boys’ Swimming and Diving
The Martlets hosted Kingswood, Brunswick and Northfield Mt. Hermon and came away with wins over Brunswick and NMH. The boys were fast out of the gate as the team of co-captains Henry Chou ’15, Toby Casper ’14 and Travis Percy ’14 combined with Tom Dudzik ’15 to win the 200 Medley Relay. Jordan Gabbidon ’17 followed with a lifetime best in the 200 Freestyle, good for second place. Chou made up considerable ground in the final 50 of the 200 IM for his lifetime best and the second spot. James Hsieh ’14 and Jack Norman ’16 swept the diving uncontested. Dudzik and Percy raced to a 1-2 finish in the 100 Freestyle. Westminster dominated the 200 Freestyle Relay behind the efforts of Chou, Dudzik, Percy and Casper. Chou was back in the water in the 100 Back, placing second, and Casper swam his fastest 100 Breast of the season for the win.
 
Third Boys’ Basketball
The Third Boys' Basketball team had a hard-fought victory over Taft. It was a highly competitive game in which captains Jason Chung ’17, Tim Callahan ’17 and David Hagen ’16 led a spectacular offensive and defensive effort. Although Taft attempted to make a comeback in the final minutes, Callahan’s steal and two-point conversion sealed the game at 38-30 for the Martlets.
