Performance Poet to Give Reading

Performance poet Sean Thomas Dougherty will give a reading at Westminster School Dec. 6 as a part of the school’s “Friday Nights in Gund,” a series of readings, lectures and concerts held at Westminster during the academic year. The student readers will be Sixth Formers Riley Bitterli and Rachel Chan, who tied for second place in the “This I Believe Essay Writing Contest.”

Dougherty is the author or editor of 13 books of poetry or experimental mixed-genre literature, including the forthcoming “All I Ask for Is Longing: New and Selected Poems 1994-2014,” “Scything Grace,” “Sasha Sings the Laundry on the Line” and “Except by Falling,” winner of the 2000 Pinyon Press Poetry Prize. He contributes widely to literary publications and has traveled across North America and Europe to deliver his performance poetry.

Dougherty’s Westminster reading is free and open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Gund Reading Room of Armour Academic Center. Refreshments will be served after the presentation and ample parking will be available in the parking lot adjacent to Armour Academic Center.
